A year earlier, he was put on a case where a bunch of kids with bad haircuts and dye jobs robbed the Bank of Asia, then brazenly shot about two dozen officers, who seemed to run into their line of machine gun fire. Chan plays Inspector Wing Chan of the Hong Kong Police Force, who has never failed to solve a case. It's way out of character for Chan, who is so protective of his public image that he has refused to play villains and blew up at a newspaper for publishing a picture of him smoking.
